Story

This came from a need to write a slow blues in a minor key, which isn't something I do very often.  The lyrics are heartfelt, though it's been some time since I lost a woman.  I am rather pleased with the guitar work on this song; it's not very often that I tackle fills and a solo without a slide on my finger.

Lyrics

I can still hear her whisper my name, I can still see her curves
I can still smell her musk in the air
but she's gone
I can still feel her wrapped around me, I can still taste her lips
I can still reach out for her love
but she's gone

I never meant to hurt her, didn't want to make her cry
I never thought she'd slip away in the blink of an eye

I can still hear her laughing, I can still see her eyes
I can still swear she'll be here tomorrow
but she's gone

I can still feel her hand in mine, I can still taste her sweat
I can swear I feel her beneath me
but she's gone

I never meant to hurt her, didn't want to make her cry
I never thought she'd ever lose
the light I saw in her eyes

I can still see her in the midnight hour, I can still hear her moan
I can still feel a hole in my heart
cause she's gone
