Story

There are plenty of blues songs that involve the imagery of leaving town on a train; it really has kind of a classic, gritty (and perhaps even romantic) feel.  This is my contribution to that type of song.

Story

This song was inspired by a voice mail left by a woman with whom I had ended a relationship.  She insulted me in just about every way a woman can insult a man and I went from being angry, to upset, to highly amused when I heard it the first time.  I had originally intended to mix snippets of the actual message with music, but I accidentally deleted it.  But, on the upside, I did write this song instead.

Story

This was written from the perspective of a man who just never seems to get a damn thing right.

Story

The chorus really says all you need to know..."life ain't easy, and livin' is the hardest part."

Story

There are lots of songs about women being the death of their men; this is meant to be  at least a little tongue in cheek.  "A good woman loves you, but a bad one takes you to your grave."

Story

Oddly enough, blue is my favorite color, and I had a collection of blue shoes at one point in my life.  The idea behind the song is that sometimes a man feels so bad, even his shoes got the blues.

Story

This is an instrumental; the title is reflective of the mood I think the song evokes.

Story

A standard blues where I plead for the woman in my life to just tell me what the hell is wrong.

Story

I wrote this mainly as a way to feature uptempo slide guitar...the lyrics implore woman to be quiet and accept the results of what her actions have brought upon her.

Story

A sweet sounding song about looking back fondly on pleasant memories, but it still has a tinge of blues to it.

Story

This was written as a way of saying that I managed to learn a thing or two from my wealth of experiences.

A lighthearted look at the ways in which a woman can make a man cry.

Story

A blues about an internet love affair; to the best of my knowledge, it was the first blues about that kind of relationship.

This is about acknowledging and confronting one's fears; the content isn't exactly funny, but the approach and presentation is meant to lighten the mood.

Story

I call this a mournful cry from a man in pain; it's almost a dirge.

Sort of a cautionary tale for women...if you don't love your man, he gonna get it where he can.

Story

This is about a man who sabotages his relationship in order to get away from a nagging woman, and it's definitely supposed to be funny.

Story

This is a dark song about a man who catches his wife with another man.  He is considering the idea of killing them both and then ending his own life.

Story

This was one of my favorite songs for a long time.  It's a simple, slow blues and the title says it all.

Story

This is the one song on this collection that is not a blues.  I wrote it for and sang it to my wife as my wedding vow.
